Focus Group
These images are taken from my focus group which I held in a classroom in college. These people are all my target audience as they're of the age group and they all enjoy the indie genre of music and video.
Strengths- These are the parts of the video and the ancillary products that the focus groups enjoyed and felt I had done well on.
Music Video:
Many poeople said loved how emersed they got into the video and how there was never a part of the video where they were not interested as the storyline was really good.
I also got comments about how much they believed the two actors were in love, how the emotions and actions were portrayed well- I asked them if, as well as directing the actors well, my editing techniques and the colouring of the video helped with this, they all said that it did and that they liked how there was a colour theme throughout.
There was lots of comments on how they liked how it had the time change, they especially liked the part where it was kayleigh singing in the mirrow and then when she takes her locket off, the scene changes to mum in the mirrow, they liked that editing technique.
They liked how they song fitted the style of the video, one girl, Bethany Bell, said 'It goes so well together, it just seems like she should be singing the song'.
One person said its 'brilliant' because its not just a story it also involves a perfomance which shows a lot of the emotion that the girl was feeling.
Everyone commented on how good my filming was and how proffesional it looked.
They also loved the flashabck part right at the end, where there's a few short flash backs, they thought they were realy effective.
Ancilary Products:
Many people liked the ancilary products and liked how there was an ongoing theme of deep reds and the lighter colours from the music video. One person said they like the 'yellowy tinge' that was on the pictures in the digipak carried on from the video, as it gives it a 'vintage feel'.
They all commented on how much they liked the pictures on the products, in particular, it came up about how they loved the way I'd got the picture of kayleigh on the front of the digipak and then on the back its a picture of my mum in the same style, they thought that was really effective.
I asked about wat they thought about including the artists tour dates in the digipak and they really liked the idea, they said it made it more of a collecters item, like the tour date t-shirts that people keep forever.
Weaknesses: These are parts of the video and ancillary products that people think i could improve.
Music Video:
One person said that I should've used an older style looking microphone. In response to this, I search for one at a reasonable price that i could afford everywhere but I wasn't successful, but to use an old style microphone was my initial plan.
Another person said they thought Kayleighs acting couldv'e been better at the end when she see's Josh with another girl. In response to this, Kayleigh found this part quite hard to do but I'm happy with it as she tried her best and we did try a few times with this part of the video.
Ancillary Products:
The only critisim I received about the ancillary products was that the font on the advert should maybe be the same as the digipak. In response to this, as you can see on my blog I've already tried all of this with feedback from my audience feedback in class but it just didn't look right at all nd I've presented this on my blog.

In response to audience feedback
From the feedback, these were chosen products that the audience liked the most from everything I put out. I forgot to include a question about the inside part of my digipak so I actaully haven't had feedback about it yet which I will find some in my own time now.
Within the feedback, I recieved that I should maybe include some text on the advert using the text colour from my digipak (making the artists name that colour was suggested) and with this feedback, I tried it out to see if it looked effective. I found it didnt look very effective and I didn't like it, I also asked some fellow student who agreed that doing that didn't look 'effective' and it made the writing harder to see.

Different construction ideas for my Advert
This is my favourite idea as it's got the layers still on the image but it's not too much, it's got simplicity along with it. I chose to use white text as it looked a lot more effective and noticable than using the same colour as on my digipak.
This has got the same idea and everything but there's a extra layer on the photo, I like it, I think it's effective, but the hand looks a bit freaky.
This is the same advery but using the same colour font as on my digipak, I really don't like it, It doesn't look effective for what I'm trying to advertise, I think it looks more vampire theme than love.

Different construction ideas for the inside part of my Digipak
These designs vary in transparency of images. The top photos are edited to 75% and the bottom one at 50%. I'm really struggling to decide which one I liek the best. I like the top one because I think the photos look better and more effective but then on the bottom one, the text contrasts better.
Different construction ideas for the front and back part of my Digipak
The variations between these are the colouring, the amounts of layers im using and positioning of the photos. I like the last one the best, each one has progressed from the last adding or taking away and changing to reach the design I would like.

Construction Ideas for Advert
For my advert, the image i use will be the same as the front cover but whether, how I edit will be the same, I will see. As I'm trying out different ways in how I would like it to look. I'm changing it by using overlapping of photos and using backgrounds and borders.
I have used this image on my digipak on one of the different ideas of mine.Basically, I have overlapped the photographs, with a blackened border and a black background. I like this
effect as it's a lot more interesting as just the photo on its own and also I wanted it to almost have a border so when I have the writing on there, it almost has somewhere to go. I liked the idea of a sort of border from analysing Florence and the Machine's magazine advert for their album 'Lungs'.
This effect uses the same sort of as the one above accept this one, the photographs are more different in size and one of them has a bigger boarder that goes along the sides. The reason I'm not too sure on this one is because the locket isn't aligned in all of the photographs and seeing as that's the main focus for me on the advert, it's not as effective to show the locket like this.
In this one, its more simplistic as it doesn't have as many layers. I like this one but then again I still find the first one the most attractive to look at but I will see when the writing is on it.
Ideas for Construction of Digipak (outside)
For the outside of my digipack (front and back cover and inside image) these are the images I have chosen but I have been editing and changing the view of the front and back cover image (images of mum and Kayleigh holding the locket) as I'm not too sure how I would like it. I've been changing the transparency, closeness of the photos and even over lapping bordering the photos. For the spine I have used the eyedropper tool from Kayleigh's dress so there's a colour theme running throughout the digipak.
Here the transparency of mum's photo and I've bought her closer to the box, so enlarged the image, to make her fit into the frame similarly to how Kayleigh;s photo is.
Here I have just changed the transparency of mums photo. The reason I have done this is because there's going to be my album tracks on the back so I want the writing to be easy to read.
In this one, I have changed both mum and Kayleigh's photos and done similar things to both. I have put a blackened border around 3 different photos on photoshop, each with a slightly different border and then removed the black background on each layer so you're left with the overlapping effect of a few photos with a more dramatic look from the border. As you can see on Kayleigh's photo, part of her hand is showing very faintly. The only prblem with this is overlapping the photos of mum has increased the colouring so we will have to see what the text looks like against that as a background.
Construction Ideas for Digipak (inside)
These are initial photo placement ideas for the inside of my digipak. As you can see, I've altered the photos transparency through photoshop; the top photo at 50% and the bottom at 75%. I'm still not sure which one I prefer so I'm going to place the text on both of them to see which one I prefer. The reason I have used photoshop to change the transparency is because I was the writing to be easier to read but I didn't want to use a plain background.

Choosing the writing design for digipak front cover
This is just an idea of the sort of font that I'd like. Because I'll be creating it on indesign, I'll chose fonts off of there, but this is the sort of this I'll be looking for; something bold but feminine.

initial layout design of digipak
Using the pictures that I took on my photo shoot, I allocated them to where I liked best, choosing the most suitable and effective pictures.

Progressed Ideas for digipak design of the front and back cover
I decided I wanted to change the design a bit in terms of the locket because I wanted it to be more of a focus.

Initial idea for digipak's front and back cover design
The front cover featuring Kayleigh on the front and on the back my mum doing the same pose. Both of them would be wearing the same locket. I wanted to do this as I wanted to keep the same theme that featured within my music video of the time change.
